Two great masters of mixed media at My Creative Classroom team up to bring you this extremely creative and fun course. Catherine Scanlon and Shirley Pando are mad -- Mad for Mono-printing! And they know you will be, too, when you create these unique, one-of-a-kind backgrounds using both paper and fabric.
This six-lesson class will include intensive training in the art of monoprinting. Students will learn how to monoprint on several plate surfaces using a variety of tools you can probably find in your home and some that will be handmade. Using acrylic and textile paints, you'll create your own paper and fabric backgrounds that will be perfect in your next art project. But we're not finished when the paint is dry. We'll make four projects with both paper and fabric including a paper art quilt, a journal, a NO SEW fused fabric tote and a funky patchwork pencil case (sewing required). Weekly instructional videos included!
- Lesson 1: Catherine starts off with an overview of paper, paints and tools along with a discussion of alternative printing plate options. Don't want to purchase a Gelli Arts Printing Plate? No worries...create your own traditional gelatin plate using Catherine's easy recipe.
- Lesson 2: Shirley is up next for an overview of preparing and printing on fabric, acrylic vs. textile paints, and some tools you can find around your home that are excellent for printing.
- Lessons 3-6: Catherine and Shirley alternate lessons to bring you various techniques from their mixed media bag of tricks. You'll use those prepared paper and fabric backgrounds in your projects.
