THINGS i LOVE Completed Project

The sides have been finished with strips of vintage book pages, all the elements stitched to the canvas with red thread....and now I'm ready for my workshop on Monday, I must say I am very much looking forward to this!

It's a beautiful day here today, but tomorrow is another thing. A foot of snow is predicted, and I just want spring to come.

TTFN everyone...I'm playing in the studio today and took a break to send out a quick email and got sucked into my blog and the internet black hole!

THINGS i Love Collage

Sorry I've been a little MIA this week, I'm nursing some hurt feelings and just haven't felt like blogging... I've been working on this Things I love collage for a workshop at my friend Loretta's house next week. Several of her friends are driving down from Radcliff Island to attend, I'm really looking forward to this, for sure! Let's hope that the weather holds out for us...well Loretta lives just down the road from me and I could walk there, but her friends have quite a drive to make! I originally fell in love with Charlotte Lyons' collage in the December/January issue of Cloth Paper Scissors. If you don't have this issue, you must go out and pick it up if you can still find it. It's a lovely article. Well, TTFN, I need to get the WAX out and stick some stuff down to this bad baby!

Donna Downey....and ME!

This weekend was a pretty good one, even if we got snow on Friday. but, that's another story! Drove down to Manchester, NH to take Donna Downey's class, unscripted. I've been wanting to learn how to use that Zutter Bindit All thing, and that I did. It's a pretty complicated thing, but once you have the inside scoop, it's easy. I love the book I made, I'll take some pictures of it tomorrow when the lighting is better and share.

On the trip home we stopped at Salmon Falls Stoneware and I picked up the lasagna pan I've been wanting for ever. They haven't made it for quite a few years, so every time I'd visit I'd ask them for it...guess they must have gotten tired of me asking, 'cause they finally had it. Big and Little Valentine's were patiently waiting in the car....he he . This isn't my pattern, I don't like the green leaves, so I have the all blue pattern.

I think I'm going to start on the mixing bowls next! Well, gotta work on something for Artellaland...I'll share that tomorrow too! Nighty night everyone~ Sleep tight!

Close Up of my True Colors

Thought I'd share a quick little ditty today....a close up, sneakie peakie of my submission for Quilting Arts/Cloth, Paper, Scissors True Colors Challenge. The chosen "ones" will travel to the Make It University!™ at the International Quilt Festival/Spring in Chicago, April 11–13, 2008....hopefully I'll be one of the lucky ones.... or rather, "she" will be one of the lucky ones!

I'm going over to Manchester in the morning to take a class from Donna Downey at the KISS Event at the Radisson Hotel. Looking forward to it, though I still need to pack and Big V wants to watch a movie tonight....maybe I can take a nap on the way over....

So, I'll catch up with ya'll on Sunday! TTFN friends!

I showed you the cards that I made for my swap with Gabrielle from "The Result of my Inspirations", well I got my darling cards in the mail today! Aren't they just sweet! THANK you Gabrielle, I love them. Hope you get your envelope of goodness any day now!

In other news, Little V and I went on a nice walk on the local Bike Path to get some exercise and walk off our lunch from Wild Oats... I just love this train bridge, and the photo came out so lovely. I didn't make any adjustments at all in PS either...what a great little camera!

I'm going to be listing some things on Etsy later tonight, maybe. Depending. Check back later.....

FareWell my Friends...

FareWell my Friends... Originally uploaded by CatherineScanlon

I created this page to remember my last month at ScrapMuse. I started designing the Newsletter and creations in August/September of 2004! Each and every month since then I've created a jam-packed letter for the members, sometimes as many as 16 pages. I've loved every moment on this site, but it's time for new things, fresh beginnings, new projects, assignments... With that announcement, I should let you know that I've had the stomach flu, and laid on the couch all day yesterday. My DH is away on business and my little V took care of me until he got bored with that and "went down to Gram's for lunch"...he didn't come home until 6pm...but I feel better today. A little light headed, probably from eating NOTHING yesterday. to much to do, so gotta run. Have a lovely day!

This is WHAT I am dreaming of...

ONE World - ONE Heart

I'm a little late in getting into the fun of One World-One Heart second annual giveaway, but better late than never is always a good motto. This event was organized by Lisa at Heart of the Nest to bring bloggers together from around the world. I'll be giving away one Artist Trading Card and a cute little felt pocket for it to go in, similar, BUT NOT EXACT to what you see below!
There are quite a few other bloggers (over 300 to be exact) participating in this, so check out One World - One Heart and check it out. I'll be holding the drawing on Valentine's Day, so please leave a comment on this thread with either your blog address or your email address so I can notify you when you win...he he he.
Have a lovely day!

ATC Swap with Gabrielle

When I was having the Art from the Heart book giveaway, Gabrielle visited my blog and we decided to swap ATC's. She's made some beautiful cards and posted them on her blog, The Result of my Inspirations......you should check her out. She's very creative. The pink thing is a cute little sleeve I whipped up to keep them safe on their journey to her neck of the woods!
I hope you like them Gabrielle!

In other news, my very sweet and fun blogger friend, Shawn from Bonorama Mama gave me this blogging blessings.

"The idea…it’s a game of tag with a difference, rather than looking inwardly, we look outside ourselves and bless, praise and pray for 3 blog friends. By participating in this endeavour we not only make the recipient of the blessing feel valued and appreciated, but we are having some fun too. We’re going to see how far the bloggin’ blessings can travel around the world and how many people can be blessed! Recipients of a bloggin’ blessing may upload the above image to their sidebar if they choose to."
I would like to give this award to:
Nat: because I love her creativity and the way she thinks out of the box. She's a sweet and geniune person and I really enjoy having her as a friend.
Leslie: because she's a wonderful and fun neighbor, and a true kindred soul if there ever was one! THANKS Leslie!
Sherry: She's a true fighter (against cancer - and winning!), a sweet woman and very talented. I love the creations she shares on her blog!

Love and Cherish Canvas

Love and Cherish Canvas Originally uploaded by CatherineScanlon
This is another project that I made quite some time ago, meaning to start an ETSY shop, and never having the courage to do it...and it sat around for so long...it's been sitting on my secretary for quite some time, and I am enjoying it...but I think I'm going to put it on Etsy now, now that I have the courage...and have the shop...and DON'T have the room anymore! It was such a fun project to make, and you can see that it was made a while ago by looking at the proejcts: Mara Johnson papers, OLD Heidi Swapp rubs, chipboard and hearts...the dove inside the charm is a vintage charm that I picked up at a flea market or something. The overall size is 8 x 12, don't you think it would make a beautiful Wedding gift? I do. Wish I knew someone getting married!

"Sweet Friend" Recycled Godiva Truffle Box

My husband loves Godiva chocolates, and so I buy him a box for every special occasion....and then when the box is empty I save it...I have a bunch of them stashed here there and eveywhere... Yesterday I got it in my head that I would break myself out of my creative rut by making them look pretty....and pretty they look. I've got three of these beauties that I'll be adding to my Etsy later...and some more that I need to work on today. Have a great day everyone

It's the Weekend!!

I just can't believe that it's February 2nd already!! (Edited: Does that say anything about anything, it's actually February 3rd....he he) It seems to me that from October to just after New Year time flies...I feel like I blink and the Holidays are over and it's time to settle in for winter. And then when it gets to January, time stops. January to me (well and March too) are the longest months of the year. The weather here in Maine is frightful at best, and we're inside a LOT! Though I don't like to wish my life away, I can't help but wish once or twice for January to be over and behind us....so we can get to spring! Speaking of Spring, my lovely friend and EK Success CAT Member Nicole sent me a scan of my article in the Spring issue of Creative TECHniques Magazine. (THANKS Nicole!!) If you are into printing on fabric with your inkjet printer you've got to get this mag and check it out. This article reviews 4 of the printable fabrics on the market today.

For all of you anxious-readers out there, time is getting down there...it's getting closer to Tuesday that is and the big drawing. Remember, I've added a hand crafted item to the pot and I'll be sending out two copies of Art from the Heart AND one piece of art....GOOD LUCK everyone.

I'm trying to visit all of you and send a personal thank you....in my visits I've found some really lovely blogs...and other give-aways too. For tomorrow's post I'll make a list of some of the lovely blogs that I have visited in the last several days....so you everyone can takea minute or two to vist them to!

In other news, if you get Donna Downey's newsletter check out who she mentions in "Inspired By"...ok ok. I'll save you a couple of minutes in case you don't get it. This is what she wrote about Art from the Heart:

inspired by... An absolute must have book is Art from the Heart: Mixed-Media Collageby Catherine Matthews-Scanlon. I just got this book last week and it is already dog-eared and loved. It has some of the most classy and creative examples of mixed media collage...a total inspiration!

Thank you Donna...you really DID make my day! I also realized that with this post I have 200 posts since I started this thing...I am pretty happy with that as I never thought I'd make it this long!!! Have a lovely Sunday everyone!!

Three Days...and some other stuff!!

I made this 4 slide holder quite a while back, well as a project in Art from the Heart to be exact, but it got cut from the line up. So, I thought I'd share it here since you are all so kind and thoughtful. A sneakie peakie so to speak, but since it didn't make it in the book, I guess it's really not a sneakie now is it?? he he he. Yeah, I'm a teaser. Can't help it! I'm looking for some information from anyone that has a minute...I'm really quite frustrated with my Etsy shop. How do you get things to sell in your shop? I was very happy to sell two (my favorites too) of my Valentine Cards last night (THANKS Nancy) but I'd like to sell them all...and then be inspired and revved up to make some more. What's your secret to a successful Etsy shop? BTW, speaking of my Etsy..I moved some things around, and it's never to early to shop for Christmas is it? All my Holiday items are marked WAY WAY down from the original prices. So, check out my shop, and I'd love some constructive feedback if you want to share!
