Brimfield 2010

Last week I went on my (hoping it becomes annual - we've gone the last two years so...maybe) annual trip to the Brimfield Antique Show. It's not far from here - a drive of a couple of hours. It's just far enough that we stay overnight in a hotel and get up early (5:30am early) and go exploring and buying old junk for the day.

One the drive down to Brimfield we stop at a couple of our favorite places - one is Absolutely Everything in Topsfield and the other is Holy Scrap in New Hampshire somewhere. It's hard not to spend all of our money at AE - but somehow we manage, LOL.

Last year the weather was sunny and warm - perfect weather for outside junking. This year - not so much! When we left the hotel it was cold, wet and drizzly. But that didn't discourage us - we had raincoats, umbrella's and were ready for a great day!

Karen found this cool box made out of rulers, to bad she saw it first because I wanted it, LOL.

I wanted this sign, but it wasn't even old and the dude wanted $49.00 for it. Needless to say I didn't get it!

Geez, what happened to my hand? It was so cold that it got frost bite!

These girls were so cool - I really want to figure out how to make one for myself!

New York City

Before I can post the Brimfield pictures I need to finally share my pictures from our April vacation in New York City. We had an amazing time - the weather held out nicely - and so did my husband - even though had had major surgery just 2 weeks before we left, it was quite a perfect week!

The window display at Tinsel Trading, I loved all those metal letters! Though, the store didn't have much that I was drooling to have!

We went to Wicked one night, OH MY GOSH - it was amazing!

The dappled sun on the sidewalk at the park is so pretty here. We played ping pong and enjoyed the morning here, it was such nice respit in the middle of the city!

After the most amazing show, the boy was VERY inspired to start practicing his drums without complaint!

Went to Martha Stewart show, VERY front row seats. On another day I met my EK Success friends at the MSLO offices and sat in on a creative meeting with Alex (who was on the shoe last week showing some punch techniques) and then off to the EK offices in Clifton, NJ. I just loved that day for sure.

Went over to Brooklyn where my husband spent 10 or so years of his life. Visited his old stoop - which made him happy even though we walked a bazillion miles from the subway station!

Waiting for the Ferry to come and take us over to Randall Island for the Cirque du Soleil show. Oh WOW - that was amazing too. We had great seats - and the boy again was inspired to practice his drums!

Dinner with my pal Carla from EK Success at Ruby Foo's.

Got Meredith's autograph, and she did a double take. She said I look just like her best friend. That was special!

That's about it in a nutshell, we had the most amazing week of weather, adventure and great eats. We certainly got our exercise - we walked several miles a day, I'm sure! It is the most amazing city, though I'm happy that I live in the country!

It's been a LONG, busy time

Jar Pincushions at the Kellogg Church

If you like to craft AND recycle - AND support local establishments - then I've got the perfect evening for you. The Harpswell Community Nursery School (at the Elijah Kellogg Church - on Harpswell Neck Road) is having a benefit night to help raise funds for the nursery school this Thursday night at 6pm.

There will be 3 or 4 different crafts that you can sit down and make - and they usually have yummy snacks to enjoy while you are crafting. The other crafts are a sweet Mother's Day card, a light switch cover and something else but I'm not quite sure what it will be.

In other news, hubby is feeling better - but not 100%. He did go back to work today, and that's something we're ALL happy about!

I also wanted to mention that I have been moderating the comments on my blog lately, and that's something I really don't like to do. I've been getting more and more comments from an asian person with asian characters for their name, they leave a link that takes you to a totally inappropriate site. It actually looks like a bunch of pop-ups that bring up some really disgusting sites. I've researched and researched on Blogspot how to stop this but can't seem to come up with any answers. I am sorry to have to do this, but until the comments from this person stop I'll be moderating them.

Like a Meteor across the Sky

Things have been a little crazy around here, that may be an understatement - but still crazy. If this is any indication of the craziness, we (son and I) were going to have frozen pizza for Easter dinner, but thankfully got an invitation at the last minute and enjoyed a nice turkey dinner and an Easter Egg Hunt hosted by Gram.

I had originally planned to cook a Leg of Lamb (rather - I had planned on my husband cooking it, LOL) with a nice assortment of side dishes that I would prepare with a chocolate cake donated to the meal by Gram for dessert. That was the plan - until my husband had to have an emergency Appendectomy on Friday.

They were originally operating to remove an intususseption that they saw on a CAT Scan on Thursday - but when they opened him up they couldn't find it - then he had some other complications - along with an incision as big as one they make for c-sections but going in the other direction. They did remove his appendix that was at the Acute Appendicitis stage. Urgh, to say it's been a little stressful around here is an understatement. Plus, he was at the VA Hospital and that's about 35 miles away. Here's to hoping he's better and SOON!

In the few spare moments I've had in the last few days I did manage to get a project done for the Punch Class I'm teaching over at My Creative Classroom. I think enrollment closes soon, so if you are interested, make sure to sign up soon!

So far we made a couple of cards for the first lesson, a fun project for the second lesson - and then this little number for the third lesson. Need to get Number 4 figured out tomorrow!
